Speak Up For Big Bend

Prairie & Timbers Audubon Society encourages our members and supporters to speak up for the birds, wildlife, habitats, public lands, and dark skies of the Big Bend region.

Public comments are open regarding the proposed Big Bend Border Barrier System, which PTAS opposes. The deadline to submit comments is March 19.

As a conservation organization, PTAS is concerned about the potential impacts of a border barrier on birds and other wildlife, habitat connectivity, public lands, and the ecological integrity of one of Texas’s most remarkable landscapes.

TAKE ACTION BY THURSDAY, MARCH 19

We ask that you join us in helping protect Big Bend by submitting a respectful, personalized comment or placing a call to U.S. Customs and Border Protection no later than March 19.

I am writing to express concern about the proposed Big Bend Border Barrier System.

The Big Bend region is one of Texas’s most important natural landscapes and provides vital habitat for birds and other wildlife. I am concerned that barrier infrastructure could disrupt wildlife movement, fragment habitat, affect public lands, and harm the ecological integrity and natural character of this extraordinary region.

Please pursue solutions that protect both security needs and the birds, wildlife, habitat connectivity, public lands, and conservation values of Big Bend.

Thank you for welcoming public input on this critical issue.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

• Big Bend provides important habitat for birds and other wildlife.
• A barrier wall will disrupt wildlife movement and fragment habitat.
• Public lands, scenic values, and dark skies in the region should be protected.
• Conservation and security do not have to be mutually exclusive.
• Less destructive alternatives should be prioritized.
